Hawzah News Agency- the meeting took place at the revered cleric's office in Najaf, one of the holiest cities for Shia Muslims and a center of Islamic scholarship.
Prayers for an End to Oppressive War
During the meeting, Grand Ayatollah Hafiz Bashir Hussain Najafi commemorated the memory of the martyrs and the wounded, offering prayers for the swift conclusion of the ongoing oppressive war in the region and the realization of divine victory.
The senior cleric paid special tribute to the martyred Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, along with other martyrs and those injured in the course of the conflict. He prayed to Almighty God that this period of sorrow and suffering would soon come to an end.
"May this oppressive war—imposed upon the dear and proud people of Iran and the nation of Lebanon—soon conclude with divine victory," Grand Ayatollah Najafi prayed.
Iran's Ambassador Appreciates Cleric's Positions
Ambassador Al-e Sadegh expressed appreciation for Grand Ayatollah Najafi's principled stances and provided the senior cleric with an update on the general situation in Iran. The meeting underscored the deep and enduring ties between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the religious authorities in Iraq, particularly in Najaf, which has long been a center of Shia scholarship and a source of spiritual guidance for millions across the region.
A Shared Legacy of Resistance
The meeting between the Iranian ambassador and the esteemed Iraqi cleric reflects the profound bonds of faith, shared history, and common purpose that unite Iran and Iraq. Both nations have endured decades of foreign interference, brutal wars, and attempts by external powers to sow division among them. Yet, the ties between the two countries—cemented by shared religious heritage, cultural affinity, and mutual respect for the martyrs who have fallen in defense of their lands—remain unbreakable.
Grand Ayatollah Hafiz Bashir Hussain Najafi, one of the most prominent religious authorities in Najaf, has consistently voiced support for the oppressed peoples of the region and condemned the aggression waged by the US-Zionist axis against nations that refuse to bow to foreign domination. His prayers and positions carry significant weight among Shia communities worldwide.
A Region in Need of Unity
As the region continues to face unprecedented challenges—including the brutal Israeli military campaign against Gaza and Lebanon, backed by unwavering American support—the meeting in Najaf serves as a reminder of the importance of unity among the region's religious and political leadership. The collective prayers for divine victory and the swift end to the "oppressive war" reflect a shared understanding that the current conflicts are not merely political or territorial disputes but fundamental struggles between truth and falsehood, justice and tyranny.
A Continuation of Sacred Bonds
The meeting also highlights the continuity of the historic relationship between Iran's diplomatic missions and the religious authorities in Iraq. Despite relentless efforts by adversaries to drive a wedge between Tehran and Baghdad, the two nations have consistently demonstrated their commitment to maintaining strong bilateral relations, grounded in mutual respect and common interests.
As the Muslim world faces one of its most challenging periods in recent history, gatherings such as this—where diplomats and religious authorities come together in prayer and consultation—offer a glimmer of hope that unity, faith, and unwavering commitment to justice will ultimately prevail over the forces of aggression and oppression.
